NSS specializes in nuclear scanning techniques which were developed specifically for on-line diagnostics of process flow problems in chemical plants and refineries.  NSS was formed in 1989 for the express purpose of providing the petrochemical industry with the latest in gamma ray scanning and neutron backscatter technology for a fraction of the going cost. NSS offers the only independent column scanning service and combines technology, experience, and a unique company structure (and focus)  to get the information you need to make process decisions.

NSS engineers are among the most experienced in the U.S.  And, they are on site, performing the work, ensuring you quality performance and expert data interpretation.

TECHNOLOGY 
NSS utilizes the latest advances in scanning technology, including robust surface mount electronics and data loggers, and continually looks for innovative approaches for better, faster, and safer service.  Our in house design for Neutron backscatter employs a source that has 5000 times less activity than competing devices, yet has better resolution.  Mechanical collimators have windows that are half the industry standard, for better resolution.  And, although expensive, tungsten's superior performance makes it the heavy metal of choice when designing collimators and shields.

SPEED
A skilled NSS scanning team can perform many scans through the course of a day.  You will have a hard copy of the results and the engineer's interpretation on site.

SAFETY
NSS personnel are experienced in radiation and plant safety; attending several refresher courses each year. NSS sources are small compared to most industrial uses and pose very little hazard to plant personnel.  We welcome any questions or concerns and work with you to ensure a safe workplace.
